Popcorn, tickets, messes, and ignorant people.... it's what i deal with day in and out. The movie theatre. It is not the ideal job, it is not the job i prefer but it makes me money so I cannot complain, too much that is. I see people who I went to high school with , I see new people, I see old people, I see dumb teenagers. There is such a mixture of customers that like to see movies.
The other day I saw all that was possible to see while working there. I saw an old man wearing forest green capris with a navy blue collared shirt tucked in. He was also sporting red, white and blue striped toe socks with strap sandals, carrying a murse. That was very interseting to see, but I guess if that's his style, so be it.
Then two old ladies entered laughing and having a grand time. One the women had to use a cane to walk. As she entered the building her cane caught the risen mat in the entry way. She went down with a thud. I didn't know what to do... I was trapped in a box. She had fallen and couldn't get up. She rolled over and wow... a golf ball size bleeding lump had formed above her eyebrow. What was I to do? I was trapped in a box, I couldn't help her up, I was scared. But thankfully all was okay- she just left with a chuckal and hopes of returning. Then a couple hours later a grumpy unstylish old lady had come to "purchase" Fandango tickets. Fandango as most know is a way to purchase tickets online or by phone. Her on the other hand, wouldn't listen or do anything but bitch at us about how Fandago does not allow a person to talk to a live person. She yelled at us, threw a temper tantrum, bitched about how live people should talk, etc. She just needed to vanish, like instantly!
I also see people who spend ridiculous amounts of money just for the popcorn and what not, and don't even to see the movie with it. It's just werid, well I think.
But I guess, every job sees some interesting people. So dumb people, some ignorant poeple, and some who should just become mute. Working... it's on interesting view on people watching.

Only one mood for every situation.. I think not!
As I sit on the half pipe outside on this Monday afternoon, I observe the very windy populated school I attend. When I sit here I usually expect to see skaters acomplishing some sick tricks or some biffing it so hard that its hard not to laugh. As I sit and watch the school environment I see differnt clusters of people. I sit and watch a group of men chatting about who knows what; then all a sudden they all get up and leave in multiple directions. I wonder why; why do they all leave in different directions; girls on the other hand would all leave and walk together. I look to my left and see another group of students, all smoking and waiting for the RTD. I see them inhale, I see them laugh, I see them talk, and I see them smile. Other RTD riders sit and listen to music, sit and take notes, sit and keep shaded or covered from the wind under the giant trees that overlook the bus stop. Many a cars drive up, drive by, and drive away. Some do circles looking for one of the few but open parking spaces. Some are happily leaving the school, heading to another new found destination. Some cars are loud, some cars or sporty, and some cars just blend in with the cluster of cars seen from day to day. Then I look behind me and I see brightly green unplayed frisbee golf course. I wonder why isn't anyone playing and this beautiful Colorado day. But then wait I hear a group of boys laughing. Then I see a brightly neon colored frisbee zoom by. There are some players, they are laughing and trying to have some fun on their break from the horendous school work they are procrastinating on. I see them vanish behind some more trees. Behind them comes another group of men doing as the last; laughing, having a fun time, and who knows what else. There was never a moment where something new was occuring. There were always students entering the doors of the education, the doors to a new beggining. There were citizens leaving the building going on to work for what they want, going on to have adventures with their friends, going on to see what else lies beyond the building most our week revolves around. Sitting and observing my surroundings brought multiple moods and thoughts through my head. I saw poeple observing me, waiting to load on the bus to there new adventure, having fun playing a game, which I can not seem to hold interest to, and some just living each minute as it takes them.
Myspace is over-rated.

Myspace and Faceook are the new "popular" thing. Who has one these days, EVERYONE! Yes, Tom and the Facebook creator both have great minds for creating something that everyone can interact with. It may have some creepers on it but for the main part it is a great new place to meet new and old friends.
But that happens to us that have had a Myspace for years. We are put down with everyone else for having a an account. We are labeled as trend followers. Myself, along with multiple others have had out Myspaces for 4+ years. I have many friends on mine but I don;t add people I do not know. I don't like to be like everyone else and just add people to hopefully make new frineds and say, "Look I have more friends than you."
Myspace is a time waster. I go on it when I have nothing else to do or late at night when I want to procrastinate homework. But there are some who are on Myspace as much as they can be. Yes there are other users always on, but why not just text the person you want to talk to. Just sitting in front f computer all the time is not my ideal type of fun.
So no matter if you are a Myspace or Facebook owner, it does not mean you're a trend follower or don't have anything better to do with your life, it's just something to pass the time when there is absoultly nothing better to do. So "follow the crowd" make a myspace and lets chat [myspace.com/rock_babe].

Tattoos: fashion or lifestyle

I have grown up around tattoos and piercings since i was three years old. My dad is a tattooist and it is a big part of my life. All my parents- mom, dad, stepmom, stepdad- have multiple tattoos and piercings. I haven't gotten a tattoo myself, yet, but i plan to have several. And I do know all the ones I am getting, where and why. I have also had many peircings and I plan to get more. I have had my lip; and I have my belly button, ears and nose. The reasons behind getting them, well there is none in particular. I am getting the tatoos I want and I get the piercings I want because they are something I like and find "cool".
A tattoo is something meaningful to the person "wearing" it. It is not a fashion statement or a way to impress others; it's something that you want personally and means something to you. Piercings are the same way. Anyhting that is permanently stuck on your body show be meaningful to you and only you. Who cares what others say about your body modifications, its aboout you, your life, and how you feel, not them.
Some get these modifications just because they like how they look; but others get them because of the "story" they tell. Firefighters may get a particular symobol and date of a fire they lived through, some may get their childrens' names and dates of births, and some may get a fairy becasue it's something they like. Every tattoo and every person is different and unique.
I believe that any one person can get the body modifications they want and should not be judged because it is their body and life. Yes they may want it for fashion reasons but that shouldn't matter to others.
Identification Presentation
This presentation has showed the class who everyone is. Everyone is different. Some people’s presentations were more elaborate than others’ and some were thrown together right before class. It may be a label but you can tell who really wanted to show who they were and who didn’t really care.
It wasn’t a hard project and it wasn’t something boring. It was fun to try and narrow it down to one topic and show others what you believe, your hobbies, or even your outlook on life. It was something different. Not many guidelines made it easier to do.
This particular project may have shown the class what we like to do and our perspectives but it didn’t really show everyone exactly who we are. From my project you probably couldn’t tell I was an outgoing, hyper active, life of the party type of person. And the way I “act” in class doesn’t really fit how I am; and because I waited to show my project, till close to last, some might have thought as me as shy and quiet. So yes, this project was a good kick off to get people to know each other, but it didn’t really tell us who exactly we were.
I showed everyone my hobbies and what I liked to do. Because of what I do for fun, I can be labeled as a skate [because I skateboard], jock [because I play soccer], or prep [because I like to wear Hollister and Abercrombie]. But\t just because of stuff I do or things I like doesn’t put me into one “class”.
As is everyone, I am different and unique. No one person can be exactly the same as me. No matter how much we may have in common, we are still different.

Media... normal or fake?

Idealized images surround the world entirely. Every image is set to portray and aim towards a group of people. We may not realize how an image effects us. It may not cross our mind initially but it can effect us at any time. I believe media aims more towards young women than me; but young men still encounter this "image". The tabloids make females feel they have to have a sense of "style" and a specific "look" to be "normal". But who is deciding this "normal"? Who is choosing what the right image is?
Idealized images are every where. There is no specific time and place to look for such images but just in daily life. A female may be happy about themselves, but then that image comes into view. Some young girls may be out shopping for what they like, but then they see a clothes ad or other women with that "beauty look". From magazines to television to billboards and newspapers, the world around us is full of this specific image. The people then believe they have to be the same or better than this image they see, change who they are, or become someone new.
High school is a time when young women really look into this image. Girls believe they have to be "perfect" to get the boy they are eying, to get the student body to like them, and to even just be noticed. And young men all seem to have to be this jock, the guy all the girls want, or the hard ass everyone's afraid of. Teenagers can't really ever seem to know what they want to be or what they should be looking like.
Media has over taken society. If something isn't cool anymore, then why stick with it? Why not try the cool new thing? Change who you are to get others to like you; that's all the messages we are receiving. The media isn't just about the looks we see but the things we do. Say a young girls idol is Lindsay Lohan, since she is doing all these "bad things", is that what she should do? Become anorexic, so drugs, go out drinking and partying all the time.
Just because media says and shows a way of "life" doesn't mean that's the right life to live. Be the person you want, not what others are doing and looking like. The tabloids and adds are there life, its not just the norm.

McCain or complain?

While listening to McCain's election speech, many different thoughts ran through my head. He put out some good points but seemed to story tell a little too much.
His speech seemed to aim more towards the veterans and families with people in the war. He talked about how he experienced war and how he wasn't his own man but his country's man. He also thanked Bush for "helping" the country in war. He said to "stand up for your side and fight for our future". With war happening he intends to keep the US safe from enemies. McCain expressed how he hates war; and is running to keep the country safe loved ones in our country out of fighting.
He also made a point that the government doesn't make our choices but give us more choices to choose from. He wants citizens to enlist, enter ministry, run for public office, comfort others, tech, feed the hunger, help the country and be greater than yourself. He believes anyone can make a change and help.
Unlike Obama's speech, McCain seemed to be more aimed towards the republicans rather than the entire people. He spoke of how he wanted to make a change in the country as a whole but didn't mention much about the change. He spoke of what change should occur, but did not explain how he was going to go through with that change.
I'm not sure who I'm voting for or my reasonings behind it yet, but each presidential candidate has a way they are planning on running this country.

Obama. New change?

There are many different beliefs about Obama and his presidential candidacy. Some believe that he would be a good leader, while others regard him as another mess up for America. Obama, just as other previous presidents, has made some strong promises; but he promises to keep these and follow through, unlike previous leaders.
Obama's purpose for this speech was not just to encourage the citizens of America to vote for him as president, but to prove a point. As a young boy, Obama was told that in America we can do what we dream with hard work and sacrifice. He also said that we come together as one for next generations to do as we have and peruse in their believes. He wants the generations to come to have a government that doesn't solve our problems but to protect us from harm. The government should also give all children a decent education, keep water clean, keep toys safe, invest in new schools, roads, science and technology, and insure opportunity for all.
Unlike most candidates running for president, Obama is not all about putting down the other candidate, in this case, McCain. Obama states that it's not the fact that McCain doesn't care it's just that he doesn't get it. He also quoted McCain in saying America is a "Nation of whiners". Who would want their new president to say that about their country, not me. McCain also has other negative approaches towards aspects of the next four years.
Obama's change to this country would be helpful; there would be a tax code to small businesses that deserve it, 95% tax cuts on working families, and end our pendency with the Middle East.
I believe that Obama's speech was very well put together. From the way he spoke to what he promised earned him more votes from citizens. He didn't just speak about what needs to be fixed, but how he is going to change the mess ups that have happened.
